Summary

...Imagine a repaircrew working in the Shaft. A hatch blows up in their face and all three of them are severely injured. They have no medic with them, and the only medic they know by name is currently in her floatbed. Thus unable to reach any help by necklink they begin to make their way back to ringlab Alpha - hoping to find a medic there... perhabs... But the ringlab is deserted. By the time they reach the Garden their wounds have worsened considerably from their stressfull journey...

It suddenly occured to me, that all this talk, that medics should wear a distinctive ´uniform´ is actually rather pointless. Injured seedlers shouldn´t need to search all around the tower for medical help. Instead the proper solution to medical emergencies should be that the medics came to the injured.

This in mind I suggest that we start development of an Emergency Receiver unit. This item should be worn by seedlings with medical skills - in a belt for instance. The ER unit should enable the medic with the belt equipped to receive special distress messages. And should a doctor want to be ´off duty´ and undisturbed he could simply unequip the belt.

Imagine that every seedling could send distress messages by typing (/medic) in front of a message, just like we use (/ring) to reach each other in our rings. These messages would then be received by everyone with the ER-belt equipped.

Within seconds of an accident, medical assistance would be on its way to the injured. And most importantly: medics could allow themselves to dedicate their time to the study of Corona Virus or other debilitating medical conditions - knowing that they will be called for if needed.

Status

Well... So far this is just an idea. The project needs a leader more skilled than I in engineering, production and getting things done.

How you can help

At this time the project needs leaders and supporters. I hereby call out to all rings and seedlers for their support.
