Summary

Practice
  • Zetetic Pragmatists are unified by a common approach to life in the Tower: they seek to understand it through a process of enquiry, and proceed in a practical manner based upon the results.
  • Zetetic Pragmatists are not unified by a Project. Different groups of ZPs may pursue different Projects. If all ZPs happen to pursue a single Project, this will be coincidence rather than design.
  • Zetetic Pragmatists are not unified by a common skill set. Repair technicians, production specialists, administrators and researchers may all share the ZP outlook.
  • Zetetic Pragmatists are not unified by a common societal function. ZPs may be politicians, NPC networkers, or dedicated to maximal use of their skills.
  • As a result, Zetetic Pragmatists are loosely bound together, and the ring membership fluid. Subgroups may form to concentrate on specific Projects, or coordinate the use of their skillsets. They may even split to form separate rings to concentrate on these goals. Perhaps some ZPs will later return, perhaps not. These are all natural paths for those who share the ZP outlook.
Social
  • The general Zetetic Pragmatist outlook is friendly and helpful, as these are often useful for finding things out and getting things done. However, ZPs are also aware that there are good evolutionary reasons for other approaches, and do not dismiss them.
Bureaucracy?
  • The Zetetic Pragmatist administrative structure is as simple as the Tower allows. In the ZP vision of the ideal world, there would be no bureaucracy whatsoever, no official positions. ZPs would proclaim their own or others' talents, and perhaps claim titles accordingly. Other ZPs would seek to support or undermine those claims as they saw fit.
  • But the Tower is not an ideal world, and Zetetic Pragmatists adapt. To adhere to the vision as closely as possible, all ZP members are promoted to the rank of manager upon joining. If, for some reason, this becomes impractical, ZPs will adapt as necessary.
Discipline?
  • Zetetic Pragmatists will generally seek to maintain a functional harmony within the ring, but in extreme cases there is a single disciplinary approach: direct action. If somebody is annoying you, you can sort it out, either on your own, or with the help of other ZPs. If you prefer, you can leave the ring. There will be no executive expulsions, as there is no executive.
Roleplay?
  • Zetetic Pragmatists welcome a wide range of views on the nature of reality. Why should it be wrong to think life is a game? Who can truly say for sure that our experiences before we enter the Tower are less real than those within it? Pragmatically, however, it probably makes more sense to keep the Tower functional than to worry too much about such philosophical conundrums.
